Product Story Gel, another short-lived social app

in Welcome to the Arts Forum

I don’t know how many people remember the clubhouse that was very popular at this time last year. I think it was also a menacing look at the beginning. In those days, the domestic investment circle and the Internet circle were extremely boiling and excited.

At that time, I wrote a simple analysis article: After the experience, I found that the clubhouse scene is too small and the social attributes are very unstable. I guess its ceiling is obvious.

Now a year has passed and no one has ever mentioned clubhouse again. The joy of writing this kind of analysis is that the market is validating ideas faster than expected.

Back to today's protagonist - Jelly, a super-acquaintance social APP that can only add 50 people because of pinching the face and touching the edge of the Metaverse. A few days after quickly reaching the top of the APPstore free list, new user registration was hastily suspended due to malicious attacks and experience problems.

One thing to say, because Jelly has a 3D country email list image, the status and poke are quite amazing (WeChat status and the product manager of Paipai can copy the homework, if it is in this form, the status of WeChat and Paiyi can be copied. The shooting data should go up a lot, if WeChat really cares about this data, but I guess it probably doesn't care that much).

Sharing location and mobile phone battery, my brain circuit is limited and I can't think of what kind of social relationship will always share this information except for young couples who are in love.

When communicating with Jelly friends, click "What are you doing", and when the other party clicks on the access message (APN), it will directly call up the camera function of the mobile phone camera, and reply by taking pictures. This is also amazing. Taking pictures can indeed increase the desire to share and interact (take out a small notebook to take notes, this is really a small coup to shorten the social distance between people).

And these small functions are just amazing, neither just needed nor ten times the experience of WeChat.

So, what kind of needs does the gel meet? Is this need really necessary? How many people really have such needs? Are people with such needs really willing to pay? I believe that after answering these four questions, you will have a judgment on the future of this gel product.

Dimension 1: The demand scenario of "jelly" and whether it is just needed?

There are no so-called new needs in this world. People use the latest technological means to meet their existing needs. Therefore, returning to the essence of things, let us start thinking about this problem from the daily social demands of people.
